Is jogging bad for spinal disc herniation patients?

I have been living with spinal disc herniation for 5 years now and most of the time it doesn’t trouble me much. I’ve followed my doctor’s advice of avoiding most sports except swimming, which is actually good for my condition. Recently I start to do jogging but realize that the shocks on each leg could be bad for my spinal discs. Does anyone know if jogging is harmful to patients with spinal disc herniation?
