Have you ever taken your baby to a professional sports game?
We have 4 Royals (baseball) tickets for a Friday at the end of June. My daughter will be 8 months old at this time. Her Daddy is super into sports (as am I, just not AS much) and we’ve both been really excited about taking Ari to her first professional game. But I’m thinking that it’s not the right time yet. I’m still breastfeeding, she would have to be in our laps the entire time, it’s probably going to be really hot and I don’t know if we would be sitting in a shaded area of the stadium, and aside from all of the inconveniences, I don’t think she’s old enough to enjoy something like that quite yet. Oh and there’s going to be a fireworks show afterwards and I’m afraid that would scare her. I guess I’ve already made up my mind to have her grandparents watch her, but I feel bad for some reason…
Anyways, just wondering if and when you mommies ever took your baby to something like this? How did it go? How old do you think a child needs to be before they have fun at ballgames?

I think you would probably enjoy it more if you went without her and she would probably enjoy being with her grandparents more then going. Its one thing if you are getting tickets when you get there and could pick a shady area that isnt as packed with people but since you already have tickets its better to leave her with her grandparents. Don’t feel bad. Every parent deserves some time out. Have fun!

Yes, we just took my son who was 1 at the time to a Giants game. My company has a luxury box though so we were able to get up and walk around without being in any ones way. He is 13 months now and walking EVERYWHERE! If your child can hang with your lap, go for it, you might still need to get up though and walk, so whoever doesn’t care really about the game, I would pick them, or go in shifts - GL!

Our oldest was born mid march, we took her to Big 8 (now Big 12) baseball tournament game (sold out) in mid/late May - 2 1/2 months old at best.
She did fine. Slept in my arms during a lot of the game.
You should know your 7 month old pretty well by now and can guess how she might do better than any one who has never met her.

My sister in law takes her son to hockey games all the time. He loves it. Our family has season tickets so he started going when he was around 7-8 months.
The only thing I disagreed with was when she took him to night games. She complained all the time that he would never go to bed at night, yet she never had him home at a reasonable hour. (Duh. lol)
But yeah she’ll probably love it. Babies love to see people. She’ll get a kick out of it if that’s her personality! Just don’t expect to stay the whole game.. she might get annoyed at some point.

She might be okay. My cousins son had a hockey tournament all weekend and we went to every single game and sat in the rink area. It got pretty loud after someone scored and at first Chloe looked to us for reassurance but I just went "yay…clap your hands too" in a happy excited voice so the cheering and such got her really excited! You could leave just before the fireworks start so that she does not have to go through that…I can see that being really scary for her…but she’ll love the crowd and get excited when they score. You could take a little umbrella for her to create shade and make sure she is wearing a bucket hat and give her water from her cup (if she is drinking from one). You can always take her down to the food area once in a while to get her out of the sun once in a while.
You could also just make it a mommy and daddy day and not feel guilty about it…we all need some couple time once in a while and because she is so young she wont remember that you did not take her.
